Team Xbox
EA Bright Light did about as good a job as a team can do when working with the classic games of many of our childhoods. It’s a delicate job, but HFGN pulls off classic-board gaming with aplomb, while at the same time adding more video game-centric modes to each title.

Just like the board game its easy to learn, fast paced, and fun to play. But unlike the other Hasbro Family Game Night offerings, its two new modes are pretty feeble.

It won’t entertain you for long, but the bite-sized games are perfect for killing time, and surprisingly addictive.

Connect Four works on a very basic level, making it great for kids and people who are extremely bored. There’s an instant gratification at work here that makes this Family Game Night offering a natural fit for the videogame realm. It won’t keep you up all night, but it will bring back those childhood memories and remind you that there’s simple fun to be had with a stack of plastic chips, even if they aren’t real.

It is especially good for families with younger kids who wouldn't do well with group games like Scene It.

Overall Connect 4 for me isn’t worth the 800MS Points. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed playing it, but if it was priced at 400MS Points I would be telling you to go and rush to buy it, especially if you enjoy playing Connect 4 with the family, but at 800 I just can’t do that.

Despite a few flaws and one ill-conceived megamix, these games are treated with the respect they deserve at a price we’re willing to pay. We’re happy to see them on Arcade where they belong.

Regardless of your preference it is also impossible to deny the addictiveness of this simplistic game of logic.

As a result, it's difficult to recommend Connect 4 at its asking price of $10, unless you have a house with a youngster or two who's bound to spend time dropping the colored pieces into rows of four again and again. Otherwise, resist the pull of nostalgia and wait for this one to go on sale for $5 or less.
