Whether you've done all there is to do in Paradise City, or you just recently purchased Burnout Paradise, "Big Surf Island" shouldn't be passed up. And, for the record, this thing totally did make me break out into my "giddy like a schoolgirl" routine.

A fun playground boasting ace stunt lines. It's miniscule size is a real issue, though. [Sept 2009, p.104]
Game Revolution
While the new island is certainly a fun diversion with a few interesting gifts in store for Paradise City veterans to unlock, it's an ephemeral one that won't hold interest for long, making it hard to recommend this whole-heartedly to everyone.

George J gave it a10:
I simply love the island because it brings me so much content in small ways(toy legendary cars!). The jumps are truly big as I was able to pull off six seconds of airtime with one of the new toy cars, nine awesome cars total to unlock, and lastly I have a new place to have some reinvented fun online thanks to the density of all the creative and massive ramps that can be found online.
Joel H gave it a9:
This add-on is a very unexpected surprise. I was looking forward to it simply for the reason that I love Burnout Paradise. However, this release has exceeded my expectations, and I don't anticipate leaving the island to race downtown or elsewhere any time soon. The whole tropical island feel is a welcome change (particularly the sunsets), and the new "mega jumps" are a lot of fun. I also very much enjoy driving around in the new buggy, which has great handling and is extremely tough to boot. If you have any reluctance to purchase Big Surf Island due to the price, please rest assured that the investment is well worth the cost, especially considering all the free content and upgrades Criterion has given us since the Paradise launch date.
