Summary
Requiring only one Wii Remote per player, up to four people can break it down at a time, as they follow on-screen choreographed moves set to classic dance tracks, covering a wide variety of musical genres and bringing everyone to the dance floor. Whether it's a group of 15 year-old girls who just want to have fun, a high school reunion dance from the class of '92 needing to pump up the jam, or Generation X who truly believe the groove is in the heart, Just Dance is the ultimate dance game for everyone. The game features more than 30 licensed tracks, ranging from iconic dance hits such as "U Can't Touch This" by MC Hammer to modern day pop with "Hot N Cold (Rock Version)" by Katy Perry. With more songs to be revealed soon, this game will easily be one of the most diverse video game soundtracks ever assembled. [Ubisoft]

Just Dance is a really fun party game. But you should have some sense of rhythm. Playing with up to four players makes the game an awesome party experience.

Goofy, fun and sometimes ridiculous, Just Dance is a great little game that stops short of being fantastic because of a lack of gameplay options and janky motion-sensing. It’s just not precise enough to appeal to a really competitive gamer, but then again, that’s not audience they’re going for.

The first actual dancing game. The music selection is great, but the movement detection should be a little bit better. It's quite fun with friends, nonetheless. [June 2010]
Eurogamer
Plenty of people would rather sit on the sofa, thanks, and play a proper videogame with guns, and good for them. But small girls, show-offs and people who are too drunk to care in the first place will have a great time with Just Dance.

It's not up to the high standard set by other music games like SingStar and Guitar Hero, but it's good enough to please wannabe dancers.

Technically flawed but undeniably fun with the right company (and probably several crates of beer). [Mar 2010, p.66]
NintendoWorldReport
In a way, Just Dance is just like an up- and-coming dancer. It's very rough but shows promise, especially when played with friends.

Just Dance can be a whole lot of fun for the right audience, and that audience is sure to love it despite its very basic nature. In any event, it's at least worth renting to laugh with (at) your friends.

Just Dance is the sort of game that you should know if you’re going to hate it or not just from taking a moment to examine the box. If the thought of recreating Katy Perry and Kylie Minogue videos in your living room makes you want to bash your head into a wall, then you probably don’t need me to tell you that this game will drive you to act on that desire.

Just Dance has all the right ideas, but all the wrong mechanics. Below average graphics and a flawed rating system were the difference in this game coming more dud than hit.
Poor motion controls and wafer-thin gameplay make Just Dance a mediocre entry into the rhythm game genre.

Just Dance is a facilitator, not a game. [Mar 2010, p.87]
Worth Playing
As a whole, Just Dance doesn't work out too well. The graphics may be very spartan and the sound may be fine, but the controls and the gameplay just don't cut it.

The only merit of Just Dance is the response of a discrete track list qualitatively, but quantitatively too narrow. The chronic lack of extras and unlockable songs make Just Dance a game which the true dancers out there would do well to forget, to throw themselves on rhythm games made better and far more fulfilling.

After a decade of jumping on arrows, shaking maracas, and pointing out grooves onscreen, I think I am finally burned out on dance games. I had hopes that Just Dance might help revive my interest in the genre, but sadly it only made things worse. Just Dance just isn’t that great of a game, period.

Granted, at the $40 price tag you'd probably be better off investing more money and grabbing DDR, Rock Band, or Guitar Hero for an experience that is going to last longer, and is ultimately more satisfying.

Whichever way you look at it, Just Dance is one of the most cynical bandwagon jumping game we've seen in a long while.

Do not buy this game. Do not rent this game, do not look at this game on the shelf, don’t even think about this game lest someone at Ubisoft find out and they prep a Just Dance 2. Such would be the end of all things, mark my words.

Just Dance is really an awful game that should be avoided. If you like dancing and waving your arms around, there are a lot better ways to spend $40.
One of the worst gaming experience ever created. Track list is poor and the movement relevation is very imprecise.

I'd call it an accomplishment to play through the entire game without creatively strangling a bystander with a cable just for watching you go through the jumps of self-depreciation that Just Dance asks of you.

Finally, a game that does not include stomping on a mat to "dance". I have been waiting for something like this to come along for a long time. THANK YOU UBISOFT! It is an absolute blast, I like the simplicity of the graphics, its easy to follow, and if you actually do all of the dance movements it is a very fun way to exercise! I could care less at what score it gives me, or who wins, it is just plain fun to play. The only downfall is that I wish there were more songs to unlock--hopefully there will be Just Dance 2, 3, 4......
Marcus L gave it a2:
I'm going to cut to the chase here. Just Dance doesn't work. It's a disgrace to the Wii's casual gamer market, as it is a pitiful substitute to actually playing some albums, getting some friends round and ACTUALLY dancing, not looking like a tool. Sure, there are decent songs on the game, but frankly, for a game aimed at those that haven't picked up a gaming controller at all, or in a long time, it's just a joke. To quote an internet meme, Ubisoft, I am disappoint.
Connor gave it a0:
I purchased this. I really did. I spent time "playing" it. I feel used. I dont understand how so many people are giving it such high reviews. Most of the reviews say that its because its a fun mulitplayer game. Really? When i think of mulitplayer games I think of my mates and I gathered around a T.V, watching as one of us pulls off a game-winning, last-minute, skillful combo in Street Fighter IV, a perfectly timed red shell in Mario Kart , or a lucky-yet-somehow-skilled rebound on Peggle. Not this. You could get the same playabilty from watching a music channel and waving a mobile phone about. Games dont have to be about skill, far from it. But they need to be playable. From a techical viewpoint, this game is complete guff. Just Dance? Just Dont.
fred Yu gave it a9:
I love this game, as well as my wife. we are not gamers, I don't like Mario games, I can't play Rock Band, and I hate COD. but we, non-gamers also have right to play games! and we are usually the people who can decide which game a family can buy. I think from my point, core-gamers can understand why this game gets so low score in almost all the gamer web sites, but still beat COD off the top. I gave this game a score 9, and, for sure, I bought it!
John gave it a1:
Awful. Simply awful. If you want to prolong this kind of rubbish taking advantage of Wii-owning families, or you lack the willpower to get yourself to shake your arms about a bit, buy this game. Otherwise, stick to Super Mario Galaxy.
Ellen H gave it a9:
I'm a baby boomer who has finally found a fun way to exercise, even if the songs were the ones my kids listened to. It's great. Thank you.
Mr Twinbee gave it a1:
This game is just terrible. Its another example of the casual market becoming the ultimate cancer in the videogame industry. Just Dance is basically another rip off of the DDR series. The hand waving is seriously moronic. I dont mind motion control at all as long as its well implemented. The sad fact is that many stunning games are being left on the shelf because of stupid parents/grandparents/boyfriends who dont know any better. The pro reviewers are bang on with this one. Ah well, keep buying it peeps and help kill off an industry ive loved for 20 years.
