Mad Moxxi’s Underdome Riot is the faster and brainless version of Borderlands, offering a nice and unexpected turn from its main gameplay.

Mad Moxxi's Underdome Riot is a worthwhile addition to Borderlands that will give you more reasons to keep your disc spinning. The action is fast, and the tournament style really takes to the creative gunplay in Borderlands.

After the first enjoyable DLC, Gearbox tries a new way to entertain the growing public of its interesting shooter. The horde idea is old enough, but it still works and provides a compelling experience, enhanced by some nice small ideas, like random rules. Sadly there's no real reward, and reward is everything Borderland's about; although sometimes fun to play, this neverending massacre betrays the spirit of the original game.

Unless you have a core group of three other friends and all of you have maxed out level 50 characters, I wouldn't recommend Borderlands: Mad Moxxi's Underdome Riot to you. It isn't balanced properly and, since there is no normal XP awards or loot drops, you won't find your character improving as your struggle through the endless waves. It actually encourages you to leave the Underdome to go grind your character.

Being able to store weapons in the new Bank is also nice and with the ability to purchase extra storage slots you'll run out of good weapons before you run out of places to stick them. Still though, the sheer time sink involved to best every bit of the Underdome isn't balanced out by the rewards for doing so.

While the new horde mode is welcome and the storage bank an absolute necessity for me I still wouldn't have purchased this add on myself. Therefore, I only recommend this expansion to those of you that love the horde mode present in most first person shooters or you absolutely need the storage space.

Z A gave it a3:
Bland and repetitive. In what feels like a way to extend gameplay time, it makes rounds ridiculously long, up to 2 hours to complete the long rounds! It may be some fun to do with friends and you can get some powerful weapons but definitely not worth the 10 dollars. A real disappointment considering how much I enjoyed Zombie Island.
Rielly Z gave it a4:
There is no way you can respect this DLC as a customer or player when dishing out $10. I can understand this DLC being $5, but when I played it, I was stunned at the lack of practically anything new. It was incredibly repetitive, which to say sadly enough, is understandable; it's an arena battle DLC. But, why didn't Gearbox try to spruce it up? Make it more interesting. There were so many things that they could have done better. For example, Zombie Island I felt, was well worth my money. It had a story revolving around the Jakob's Gun corporation. Why couldn't the Underdome have a gun sponsorship story of some sort? Like friggin Nike's at a basketball game or something along those lines! There was nothing to it! And I know the next thing I will say just sounds like a level of complaining taken a bit too far for the content, but there are also no check points. You may say, why have check points when the DLC is meant to be an endurance run? Well, this DLC lacked any substance; anything worth $10 dollars. So, take an arm and a leg, but let me save for crying out loud. They force you to play the same three arenas over again, but for 4 and a half hours without checkpoints!! Suck a huge one! But with that being said, I truly wouldn't have been bothered by the 25 round length or no check points, but it's the same waves of the same enemies over and over again! You know exactly who's going to show up. Why weren't there any zombies? You threw in some of the environmental assets from Zombie Island and left us with sucky and repetitive waves and arenas; you might as well give us the zombies! There are no cut scenes, aside from the 14 or so second long intro and tiny scenes of Mad Moxxi announcing arena fights, which combined served me half a second of entertainment. A bank! Wow, that is an alright idea to implement! But oh wait, you have to go to Mad Moxxi's Underdome everytime you want to access it! Why can't you place several of these banks out into the world of Pandora so that I can access them in various places? Or better yet, why not integrate them into the vending machines? The new DLC Gearbox has been teasing has a level cap increase, so the extra skill points you gain in this DLC are practically worthless. The system of picking up guns in this DLC is horrible. And let me tell you, I got nothing of worth playing the DLC. As a pet peeve, when you finish a wave, a huge box covers your screen displaying the handicaps that you are about to endure. Unfortunately, it's during the period of time that you need to be picking up health and ammunition packs that grow smaller and disappear fairly quickly. Simply said, this is a poor choice of a purchase! Ten dollars Gearbox, ten dollars?! Let me finish with providing this scenario for you: A group of employees from Gearbox are sitting in the office, wondering how to sucker $10 out of it's players by providing nothing of worth. Suddenly, a janitor stumbles in and the employees momentarily ponder about the man in uniform. They divulge the man and his uniform. What does that uniform stand for? Dirty, stinky, repetitive and BAM, Mad Moxxi's Underdome was born! Mad Moxxi would think this DLC smells like "pew pew." This is 2009-2010's Oblivion Horse Armor.
James D gave it a9:
people are moaning about this DLC far too much, i was gunna leave it because so many people were shooting it down.. this is basically nazi zombies from COD but for borderlands... cant go wrong! (ok well u have to pay £6 for it but so what, ur gunna get ur £6 play out of it cos its addictive and LONG and proves a proper challenge). its fun to play, the music is cool the levels are good seriously people are just haters because they had to pay for it.... but in my opinion its well worth £6. iv paid £30- £40 on games iv played less than the underdome already... come home from a long day and de stress on it. brilliant
Martin W gave it a5:
Played a lot of Borderlands. I have 3 lvl 50 characters. This add on I just don't like, it's pointless and brainless. Not for me.
Drew T gave it an8:
I for one really enjoy this DLC ALOT more then the other zombie one that gearbox put out there.... for starters its tough and VERY LONG get about 3-4 friends and then try the harder levels so far iv been doing it with just one other friend and we are getting are butts kicked at the 12th round so make sure your ready and make sure you change your spec so you can really work as a group! very awesome addon IMHO
