Gaming Age

Speaking of play mechanics, I can honestly say that I haven't had this much fun playing a game in a very long time. Not only do the controls harbor the utmost precision, but the camera has been refined as well.

Da Gameboyz

The graphics are unbelievable, the sound is fantastic and the game has so much replay value it just might be sitting in your N64 for months to come.

Nintendojo

If you're not into platform games, it probably won't change your religion, but I can at least guarantee you that it's got a much lower crap-fest-purchase-risk-factor than any of the shiny new PS2 games you could drop 50 bucks on.

GameSpot

The challenging breadth of the adventure, the richly detailed graphics, varied gameplay, killer sound, and multiplayer mode all fuse into one amazingly fun experience.

IGN

I even woke up one night with the revelation, "Oh, I know what I have to do here!" It's one of those pieces of software that gets under your skin in an addictive way. You have to collect those jiggys, you have to find all the secrets.

There's an awesome amount of gameplay packed into this cart. The landscapes are so huge it's a challenge to remember everything you need to do.

Happy Puppy

The biggest and most refined platform game ever.

CNET Gamecenter

The gameplay is what's key. Banjo-Tooie offers one of the best platforming experiences on the Nintendo 64.

Hot Games

Don't expect to jump in and then jump out of Banjo's world -- once netted, you'll remain til the end.

Games Radar UK (Pre-2006)

Bigger and better than it's esteemed forebear, but not terribly different.

Daily Radar

The levels in Banjo-Tooie border on being too large -- it's rather easy to get lost in many areas. The level design, though, is superb, and the visuals are top-notch for the N64.

Core Magazine

With graphics that far surpass almost everything available for the system, Tooie is a sumptuous sensory delight.

Game Revolution

There's something very magnetic about this game that keeps pulling me back to grab more jiggies... The framerate drops can be bothersome, but it's still a fun 3D platformer.

Spank!

Occasionally there is a bit of slowdown, but this is a perfectly fair price to pay for the huge wide-open levels and often stunning scenery and architecture.

Game Fan

The whole idea of platformer as scavenger hunt, though, has aged as well as a tuna sandwich left out on a hot California day. Sadly, this bear is starting the smell just as bad.

Josh F. gave it a10:
Just as fun and addicting as Banjo Kazooie - one of the best games I ever played on the N64!

Michael J. gave it a10:
Even better than the first! (That one also gets a 10 from me, though. :P) One thing that I really love about this game is how HUGE the world seems, and all of the levels feel connected, more so than the first one. An absolutely amazing game, a definite must-buy for everyone.

Daniel R. gave it an8:
Banjo-Tooie was a fairly good adventures game with lots of funny scenes. Although many seem to believe that the first game in the series was better, i would have to argue that this one is.... one major flaw that i saw while playing this game is that although it is fun it can get boring very very quickly, 100 puzzle pieces was just way to much (to finish 100%) all in all I think this was a very good game and I am sad to see this series fall to Microsoft....this game deserves at least a high 8.

Ivan V. gave it a10:
Wow! loved this game although I'd probly find it a bit dated now. When I grow old and think bout the times I used to play video games this game will probably spring to mind first. Awesome game too bad rare had to fall off after joining Microsoft.

Quacker Jack gave it a10:
This game is just the most awesome and ingenious game I've ever played. Its graphics are really good and it is just fun to play.

Eric S. gave it a10:
Hands-down the best N64 game ever made do to its quirky atmosphere and lasting value. It may even be one of the best games ever, IMO. Banjo Tooie is still fun to play years later. It is much better than the original (which for some reason got higher reviews), which is also a great game, but too similar to Mario 64.

Jared gave it a10:
Much much better than the first.
